The Coleta project was a finalist at the SBGames 2020 Games Festival

Coleta, a board game project I am developing, was a finalist in the Games Festival of the Brazilian Symposium on Games and Digital Entertainment – SBGames 2020. This year the festival was on-line.

The game was a finalist in the Other Platforms Category, Best Board Game. It was another exciting experience to analyze ways to improve the game to the point of publication.

Coleta is a project of a game for 2-4 players, about movement and collection of resources, with a light layer of interaction between players. A match takes between 30 and 45 minutes. To know more about the game, access this post.

Game Design Tools – Snapshot

Yesterday I started to develop a plugin for #Unity called Game Design Tools.

The first tool is the Snapshot, it is a small tool for game designers to easily record and analyze data.

The idea is to make it possible to view the balance and game events simply, with the possibility of storing the data and monitoring in real-time.

The tool is focused on the development and not on the distribution. It has also been shown to be useful for debugging.

  • Data is analyzed and stored locally.
  • There is already the possibility to filter data by moment and/or variable.
  • It has not yet been published because I want to add the charts.

Pixel Art on Paper

I have a habit of using paper to explore ideas during the #creativeprocess, especially with mind maps, sketches of drawings, notes of what I need to do.

So, I decided to make a grid paper that could explore this analog side of the #pixelart creative process. Average graph paper has a large scale that makes everything time-consuming and changes the overall way the drawing is visualized. (And, making squared paper by hand is tedious.)

(I also made available the code in PHP that I used to generate this tool there on GitHub!)

I made some changes to the Combo Project… And it turned into a new “print and play” edition, distributed for free and is now available for download under the name “Numerado” (Numbered)!

In Numerado, your objective is to build your own opportunities, making the most points through the results of the operations. 👑 Who will be the Numerado king or queen?

You just need to download the game, print it right there at your home (only 1 sheet per player), get a pen, 2 dice (if you don’t have dice, we have alternatives in the rules)… And then just play!
